A chic new luxury lodge from Aspire

Bella Brodie reports

Whenever we hear about a new lodge launching from Aspire, we’re quick to find out more due to their talent for surprising us with something a bit different every time.

That’s definitely the case with the Madeira, although it also has a familiar feel to it, with a rewarding similarity to the Muskoka – one of their best-loved models, in one or two key spots, such as the sumptuous visuals in the fireplace and master bedroom. Yet it’s completely different elsewhere, with a very different overall vibe thanks mainly to the entrance, frontage, and the way the kitchen has been configured.

Designed to have the feel of a chic oasis, the Madeira lodge brings elements of the natural beauty of this wonderful part of the world into its design; from the blue slate bed of the louvre wall in the entrance to the soft grey colour scheme complemented by cool white and warm blush tones throughout.

All Aspire lodges come fully furnished and the dimensions and layouts can be designed to suit the customer.  That said, there are two 44 x 22 layouts at the ready for the Madeira, offering the choice of a two or three bedroomed version as a starting point.   The side entrance leads to a lobby, shielded from the main living space by a brise-soleil style wall built into the vaulted ceiling, delivering flair and grandeur immediately.

To the right, there’s a useful utility area, and an inner hall leading to the bedrooms and bathrooms. The living area is open plan with clearly defined areas for the lounge, kitchen and dining functions.

One of the key features of the Madeira is the glass frontage, which unfolds completely thanks to a pair of bi-fold doors. They really add a sense of freedom, opening the lodge up in a way that will help occupants use the outdoor space as a natural extension of the living area.

The lounge area is warm and cosy, with a stylish fireplace and wood-burning style fire built-in. That’s a great focal point for nights in, and Aspire always kit their lodges out with good quality furniture too, so we know it’ll be a comfortable chill out zone, in addition to being super-stylish!

There are little touches that are almost subliminal here but in keeping with Aspire’s trademark styling so you could never mistake this lodge as anything other than one of theirs; symmetry in the windows, great use of colour tones, materials and textures, designer radiators, and in particular, timber elements appearing as features.

The kitchen is particularly chic, with a two-tone matt finish and a good amount of storage although there’s more added in the utility room of course, and the washer/dryer is housed there.

We particularly love the tall bar-style unit on the left of the kitchen units as this adds an air of sophistication while also fulfilling a practical function – but then that’s exactly what the Madeira is all about.

The kitchen island incorporates the sink and drainer and has charging points below for those looking to top up their phone charge or jump online on a laptop or gadget in addition to its more obvious purpose as a breakfast bar. We can’t help but notice that this area does have a lovely, relaxed feel to it though, and we can easily imagine sitting here with a glass of wine while dinner is in preparation.

In true Aspire style, the bedrooms are sumptuous and inviting, with relaxing colours and textures and ultimately practical, with full-sized beds, solid storage in every room and atmospheric lighting.  We absolutely love their use of fabrics in this example, and think the combination of great core design and eye-catching dressing takes this lodge into another dimension in terms of how luxurious it feels.

In this three bedroomed version shown, the master bedroom looks grand, and in addition to a double wardrobe, king-sized bed, dressing table and bedside tables in the main room space, it also has a walk-through wardrobe leading to an en-suite shower room.  The ensuite is fitted to a luxurious level, with a dual waterfall and handheld shower and a suspended vanity unit and wash handbasin, leaving useful floor space below and adding to the feeling of space. As masters go, this really will feel like a restful, spacious oasis.

The second bedroom could easily be mistaken for a master, carrying through the same sense of luxury. Even in the third bedroom, a twin, that’s apparent, and all of them have the same allure that makes you just want to lie down and fall asleep, instantly. The family bathroom matches the en-suite in style, with warm wood-effect flooring, feature tiling and high specification.

A chic oasis and welcoming family space, the clever design of the Madeira really does have something for everyone. There is a feeling of serenity; of space, light and air in every room, yet it is warm and cosy, too. The well-fitted utility will help keep clutter and noise away from the kitchen, and there’s more storage than is apparent at first glance – it performs well on that score. Although it borrows one or two small visual elements from the Muskoka, the Madeira does have a relaxing vibe of its own; inviting and sociable, laid back and charming yet also grand in places. Above all, it would work for a variety of purposes, and as such we think it could be a new best-seller.
