It may be World Tourism Day on 27th September, but with travel limited this year, many of us have opted to take in the plentiful sights of the UK instead.
Fresh social media insights by the digital marketing experts at Extreme have revealed the most Instagrammed ‘man-made wonders’ of the UK, with Stonehenge the most popularly-tagged amongst users.
From the Scottish Highlands all the way down to the Sussex coast, the UK has shown that the views, attractions and feats of man can be just as impressive and awe-inspiring as their natural counterparts — and we certainly don’t need to jump on a plane to take them all in.
Topping the list is the ever-mysterious Neolithic Stonehenge monument, having secured over 790,000 tags from Instagrammers, making it the most popular man-made wonder in the country for snap-happy social media users.
Sitting proudly in second is the quintessential tourism hotspot on the banks of the Thames, the Tower of London, with an almighty 605,000 Instagram photo tags. Scooping the bronze medal is Brighton and its 1899 Palace Pier, clocking up over 330,000 tags.
