Bella Brodie takes a look at Willerby’s latest model as it launches
Willerby, the UK’s largest manufacturer of holiday homes and lodges, has launched its latest innovation nationwide, The Vogue Classique, in multiple locations around the UK, including the Willerby showgrounds in Hull and Scotland.Set to be a key attraction on their stand at Hull’s Caravan and Holiday Home Expo, The ‘Vogue Classique’ is based on an original holiday home from Willerby, designed with state-of-the-art features to suit its modern audience while oozing sophistication and elegance throughout.
Willerby’s story began in 1946 and 10 years after its launch, founder Walter Allen created the very first Vogue product, which has remained an iconic and pivotal part of its history. Kirsten Bolton, Willerby Marketing Director, commented: “The Vogue model has played a pivotal part in our history over the past 63 years, and holds a special place in the heart of the Willerby team. We’ve revitalised an old treasured favourite and given it a modern makeover. We’re extremely proud of this truly luxurious model; it is a fantastic choice for couples who lead busy lives to enjoy a weekend getaway, surrounded by gorgeous features and interiors.”
Entrance is via a side door or French doors to the lounge, and there’s an additional French door to the master bedroom with the option of a Juliet balcony a bi-fold door available. The living area incorporates the lounge, dining area and kitchen, and it uses the space incredibly well. Off the internal hall there’s a WC and shower room, and on the other side is a twin bedroom. The master suite has a walk-in wardrobe, large dressing area, and en-suite with a shower over the bath.
Holidaymakers can ease into holiday living from the moment they arrive, with features such as an American style fridge-freezer, wine cooler, a six-seater dining table and walk-in wardrobe, making life easier and more comfortable during their stay. Options such as a retractable awning, air conditioning and a beautiful balcony in the master bedroom make this bespoke home a dream holiday destination during the summer months. Luxurious fittings you may not notice straight away because of the other visual features, but which make a difference are the premium carpets, luxurious soft furnishings, brushed stainless steel sockets and spotlights throughout. It’s safe to say that this is very well appointed!
As you walk into the Vogue Classique you instantly get a feeling of space, combined with comfort and luxury. There’s ample seating in the living area and those sofas are both a bit special from a practical perspective in addition to their good looks. The two-seater has a reclining mechanism and integrated USB outlet – what a great idea – and the other sofa has a pull-out bed for guests, taking the sleeping capacity up to six – hence the dining capacity. Of course, the layout lends itself to a great view, and the raised front really does make this model feel much larger than it is on a modest footprint. The feature fireplace with inset electric fire will keep things cosy on a cooler day, boosted by the full-height feature radiators.
The kitchen diner is designed to feel grand, and it is! By the entrance there’s a handy seat with cloak pegs and storage above and shoe rack below. Willerby have cleverly used the space in the kitchen/diner to create a U-shaped kitchen around a dining table, enabling plenty of storage and appliance space. It has also meant they’ve been able to put in a six-seater dining table as standard, although you could have four if you prefer, and the styling there really creates a lovely ambience in the dining table.
Pretty silver pendant globe lighting hangs above the table, and there are even tiny touches such as tinted bulbs which pick up with other ornamental items provided to add further class. Those chairs are not just a pretty face either, in plush upholstered fabric, designed to be comfortable!
The American style fridge freezer beyond is a real treat with an integrated wine rack above, and the Velux light keeps the kitchen area nice and light during the day. There’s a lot of attention to quality and detail here. The sink is a durable composite with Georgian mixer tap, quality Venitian blinds dress the window and there’s a blackout blind on the window above. Integrated appliances include a microwave, oven/grill, dishwasher, washer dryer, and there’s a statement cooker hood and extractor above the 5-burner hob. Even the parquet effect flooring oozes class, adding to the grand feel.
When you walk into the master suite, the natural reaction is to start talking in a stream of positive exclamations, so I’ll resist the urge to do that here and attempt to explain properly why it would prompt such reaction. For a start, there’s a gorgeous King size bed straight ahead with framed, upholstered headboard, plugs in all the best places again, and gentle lighting each side which won’t render any occupant blind if they need to get up in the night. Opposite that is a large TV wall plinth, with quite a bit of storage to one side. Then there’s the walk-in wardrobe behind that, which has surface space within – usually quite scarce in a bedroom but always useful to keep the more visible areas tidy.
So, once we’ve shut the door on all the clutter we’ve dropped in the walk-in wardrobe section in our imaginations, we can turn to the other side of the room where a beautiful dressing table area really deserves a huge ‘wow’ to slip through, with a large mirror bouncing light back into the room from the French windows. There’s also the optional extra available of a Juliet balcony on this side, so you can throw the doors open for fresh air if you choose to although you shouldn’t be too warm if you take up the option of the air conditioning.
Willerby’s aim with the Vogue Classique is to make the it the undisputed king of the park once more, and to set about rethinking what makes a premium holiday home in 2020. That’s a pretty tall order but if ever a model will do that, it’s the Vogue Classique. From the original Vogue in 1965 to the 2020 Classique, the journey has been breathtaking at every stage, and this model really couldn’t have a more apt name. The interior is upmarket and classy, yet also timeless, tasteful and won’t date quickly. The exterior is striking and offers great plus points in the form of the raised front, optional Juliet balcony and awning. It’s deceptively spacious, and on the unlikely offchance that any potential buyer is still making their mind up while walking into the master suite, that’s a room likely to seal the deal instantly. There’s a real understanding of the market with Willerby, and the Vogue Classique delivers capacity, luxury and a lodge feel but on a tidy footprint, so it would make a great showhome on parks. The overall effect is mind-blowing, and we think they’ll sell really well!
